Absolute words of wisdom, revealed by Ave Maria Mulligan, in Adriana Trigiani's Big Stone Gap, "Everybody knows the old mountain wisdom: Women love with their ears and men with their eyes."
No truer words were ever written. ; }

It has begun.
I have cracked open a new spiral notebook and started my scribbling. It's all kind of a jumble right now, but I need to get it all on paper before I transcribe it to computer. My goal, I'm writing it here to make it so, is to have a draft done by early September. Aaarghhh......
Along with that I will find and attend a conference in the fall and subject myself to much needed critiques and advice.
I must sharpen my pencils.

More Rejection Musings
No, I haven't received any more rejection letters for Wendy (yippee, for today) but, I did come across this uplifting website. Further proof that refections are a fact of life, like taxes, etc., you know the rest, yada-yada-yada.
I guess I do enjoy these blurbs of info, sort of a validation for my rejections, a way to confirm that they are good things and not personal affronts to my creativity and writing abilities! Aaaaahh!
Hey, imagine if snail mail letters were of video/imaging capabilities, yikes, worse than photo-phones. Let your sometime-somewhat-rejected imagination wander--what would all your rejection letter videos look like? Hmmm.....

WV Writer's conference
The conference was:
inspiring--surrounded by so much creativity ignites the writing flame;
intriguing--met someone who traveled from California;
insightful--talented workshop leaders slyly tap into buried senses, releasing snippets of blooming creativity;
illuminating--conversations with Boyd Carr tend to help the visual outlook on life;
Just plain great.

to laugh like an old man
to live like a woman well-loved

Bugs, lizards and such
Though I still cringe, these are some of the little pleasures of living in rural West Virginia. Some are simply creepy crawly:
Some are quite lovely:

And some I'll never get closer to then this:

Thanks to youngest son for posing this lizard. Oh, does anyone know what any of these are???
Of course I should know their names since Wendy is an insectomaniac. Okay, I believe the first one is an assassin bug and obviously the second is some sort of moth....
